Department of Applied Science & Humanities (English)
About Department |
The Department of Applied Science and Humanities is an integral part of the academic foundation at UIT RGPV Shivpuri. Department plays a crucial role in shaping the fundamental skills and scientific understanding that are essential for engineering students. It comprises of the disciplines: Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, and English for Communication, each designed to provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge required for a successful engineering career. Applied Mathematics Mathematics forms the backbone of engineering problem-solving. The Applied Mathematics division offers courses that focus on analytical and computational skills, covering areas such as calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, numerical analysis and probability theory. These courses are tailored to help students apply mathematical techniques to real-world engineering problems, ensuring a strong foundation in quantitative reasoning and logical thinking. Applied Physics The Applied Physics division delves into the principles of physics that are directly applicable to engineering disciplines. Courses cover topics such as mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and quantum physics, providing students with the necessary understanding of physical phenomena. This knowledge is critical for fields like mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering, where understanding the physical behaviour of materials and systems is paramount. Applied Chemistry In the Applied Chemistry division, students explore the chemical principles that underpin various engineering applications. The curriculum covers areas such as material science, thermodynamics, chemical reactions, and environmental chemistry. Understanding chemical properties and reactions is vital for engineers working in fields like materials engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, and chemical engineering, enabling them to innovate and improve processes and products. Humanities (English) Effective communication is key in the global engineering landscape. The Humanities division focuses on enhancing students’ language skills, particularly in technical writing, presentation, and professional communication. Courses emphasize clarity, coherence, and the ability to express complex ideas in both written and spoken English. This division equips students with the linguistic tools necessary to collaborate, report findings, and succeed in multidisciplinary and international teams. |
